Rosalie's familiarity with flounders began with her commercial fishing experience where she learned the importance of handling every fish with a great amount of care. She demonstrates this spirit of patience and attention to detail in her ceramic sculpture. Rosalie cuts out, draws and shapes each fish by hand – no molds or casting techniques are used. Because each flounder is made and glazed individually, size and color will bary slightly. Rosalie signs and inscribes each piece with the name of the specific flounder specie. Five realistically glazed species are available. (Each has a distinct scale pattern except the Halibut, which ahs a canvas-like texture.)

Halibut - bronze, streaked with blue

Fluke - bluish bronze

Blackback - greenish bronze

Lemon Sole - blonde with rust and blue edges

Sand Dab - bluish like Fluke or blonde like Lemon Sole

All glazes are lead-free. The high-fired stoneware is ovenproof, dishwasher safe and may be used in microwave ovens.
